The Best Serving Temperatures for Wine
It used
to be that red wine was served at room
temperature and white wine was served
chilled.
Today’s wine connoisseur knows
better. Red, white, and all shades of
wine should go into the wine
refrigerator. With a wine refrigerator,
you can dial up the ideal serving
temperature for each type of wine.
Here's a look at some ideal serving
temperatures for some common wines.
Serve vintage port at 66 degrees,
Chardonnay at 45, burgundy or cabernet
sauvignon at 63, Chianti and Zinfandel
at 59, Beaujolais and rose at 54, and
pinot noir at 61.
When storing wine, 55 degrees is the
ideal temperature for all types of wine.
Before serving wine, set it at the right
drinking temperature for a couple of
hours. Keep your opened bottles tightly
corked so that you can drink the wine
over a couple of days without offending
your palate.
