Questions for Determining Your Needs
These
questions are designed to help you make
the right decision about your wine
refrigerator needs.
Where do you plan to locate your wine
cellar or storage unit? The kitchen,
garage, living room, or den? A formal or
informal area? In the front or back of
the house?
Are esthetics important? Do you want it
to look casual or formal?
What is the average ambient temperature
in the location you have chosen? If it
frequently exceeds 80 degrees, you’ll
need to install cooling equipment and
insulation. Cabinets with thermal panes
or insulated glass doors are fine for an
air-conditioned room.
Keep in mind that heavy-duty cooling
equipment generates noise. Some people
may be sensitive to this noise.
Do you plan for your wine collection to
consist of standard Bordeaux and
burgundies? Do you need to accommodate
any oddly shaped bottles? If so, how
many?
What are your space requirements? Be
sure to include space for sufficient
ventilation in your calculation!
Since any hobby can grow beyond present
expectations, do you anticipate the need
for a larger capacity in the future?
Are you buying a wine cellar or storage
unit for personal or commercial use?
Determine your electrical requirements.
Most mechanical systems require 110v
with a 20 amp breaker. Some lines offer
220v.
